Specialty Museum
Admire an array of fossils at Amber Museum. Opened in 1982, the museum was established by the Costa family and American paleontologist Brandt Ghepart. Situated in a Victorian style colonial era mansion, it houses more than a thousand pieces of Dominican amber. Take a tour of the interior to see the extensive collection of the semi-precious material, some containing insect, plant, or lizard fossils. After the tour, you can pay a visit to the gift shop, where you can purchase souvenirs and pieces of amber. • Museum was free of charge. It took only ten minutes to go through the museum and the quide expected to get some tip, of course.  more »
  • An interesting interlude. Lots to see and not hurried to get around quickly. No more than a 15 minute visit is ideal.  more »
  • The amber is beautiful, but there is also a small cigar factory in the museum where you can buy fresh made cigars and Mamawana.  more »
