(2.7/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Admire an array of fossils at Amber Museum. Opened in 1982, the museum was established by the Costa family and American paleontologist Brandt Ghepart. Situated in a Victorian style colonial era mansion, it houses more than a thousand pieces of Dominican amber. Take a tour of the interior to see the extensive collection of the semi-precious material, some containing insect, plant, or lizard fossils. After the tour, you can pay a visit to the gift shop, where you can purchase souvenirs and pieces of amber. • Inside of a beautiful white villa in the powdery tone, is located the Museum of amber. We learn that the Jurassic Park film was shot partly on the island, we see many insects trapped in the resin, the various stages of the harvest. Jewelry are presented for sale. There is also an interesting part on the local stone semi precious "Larimar" unique in the world of a beautiful turquoise color. Informative tour, with friendly guides. not to be missed!
