  • You can go to the pico Duarte, make the photo in place higher in the Caribbean with the flag and the bust of Juan Pablo Duarte or simply go to the bottle, fascinating Valley. Take children from the age of 8. They have fun enough if you are adventurous.

  • The Duarte peak can be done by 3 different slopes: 4 days Northern AR, South 5 days AR and shortest out of Jarabacoa - the cienaga 3 days AR. It is possible to do it in 2 days AR but the guides offer it always in 3 days because the mules rental has the day is more profitable. This Ascension come so quite expensive because apart from the entrances of the national park, you pay the guide and rental of mules (1 per person + 1 charge) and even if you mount a foot mules will be mandatory, so in the end and 3-day costs quite consistent. In regards to the Ascension is still not the cake because there are 2000 meters of denivelation since La Cienaga knowing that efforts at high altitude in the tropics are a lot more hard in Europe and I speak knowingly! All the way is a slot wood so virtually no view from the top. It's still the highlight of the Caribbean so even if this is not an extraordinary race worth it to do it once. Personally I organize some hiking in the area and I fell back on areas still more beautiful and less frequent, and especially much more economical because no obligation from the strict rules of the Duarte (see my page on my profile). Think has take winter clothes because even in the Caribbean at these high altitudes there may be negative during the night temperatures. Good race! ...
