Carretera Samana Toll Road, Las Terrenas
(3.4/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Drive along Carretera Samana Toll Road, a scenic highway connecting Santo Domingo and Samana province. The well-maintained road opened in 2009 and has significantly reduced the travel time between the two cities. Along the way, enjoy the lush tropical jungle vegetation and ocean views. On the picturesque drive you'll pass three different toll booths; the price might seem a bit steep, but the route will get you to your destination much faster than the old roads. • We rented a car, we stayed in the Bay of Samana and traveled throughout the area. The road is in very good state, is passing by villages very picturesque, there are many playitas for know and beautiful landscapes. Is a beautiful ride. Be careful because even though there was not much traffic, Dominicans are a little imprudent to drive! (particularly bikes)

  • This toll road did not exist during my penultimate trip to las terrenas, was built by a cooperative of Panama a few years ago and allows a preferred arrival in Las Terrenas arriving from Santo Domingo without going through the winding old road that climbs the mountain ... nothing particularly nice (apart from the natural landscape) but very practical
