Rio Chavon, La Romana
(3.7/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Enter pure jungle with a trip along Rio Chavon, a salt water river that winds its way out to the Caribbean Sea. With a filmography nearly as long as the river itself, "Apocalypse Now", "Rambo II", "Rambo III", "Anaconda" and Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" were all filmed here. Meander into the depths of the undergrowth by kayak or boat tour and keep an eye out for turkey vultures, fish hawks and freshwater turtles along the river and its gorge. Make Rio Chavon a centerpiece of your La Romana vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our La Romana holiday planner.

  • The river is where shot films Rambo and Anaconda. On the banks of this river also lies and city of artists. We passed by this river from the city of artists and emerged into the Caribbean Sea. When passing through the saw and river excursion boats. Very picturesque place

  • If you miss this, it's only big deal. It's very green, not a lot of wildlife and bit dull. If you can do it cheaply or have time to kill then do it
  • We were on the river taking a day trip to isla saona views are wonderful while watching birds fly over your own. The only downside is the smell to enter through the mouth of the river
