Create an itinerary including Altos de Chavon
Visit a rustic Mediterranean village in the heart of the Dominican Republic at Altos de Chavon. Built in the late 1970s, the replica of a 16th century European-style village was designed by Dominican architect Jose Antonio Caro and Italian artist Roberto Coppa. Roam the charming cobblestone streets and quaint courtyards, admiring the shops, galleries, and restaurants that look as if they’ve been there for centuries. Don't miss the amphitheater, a venue that has hosted many famous performers. You can relax in a cafe and enjoy the picturesque vista, purchase authentic art pieces, or pay a visit to the archaeology museum. • This community, located high above the Chavon River, offers great restaurants and sightseeing - highlighted by the outdoor, large amphitheater modeled after the ancient Roman structures.

  • Disappointed that not all shops open. Cobblestones tough to walk on so good shoes a must! Went during the day so night might have more going on.

  • A hidden gem in Casa de Campo. Lots of good restaurants, a great cafe, and beautiful atmosphere. It feels like you have gone back in time. Beautiful during the day and at night. Make sure not to miss the coliseum it is a bit off the main path but built with epic proportions.
  • Picturesque tourist attraction at Casa de Campo that should not be missed. Beautiful stone buildings complete this quaint town on the edge of the Chavon river. Both the views of the river and the amphitheater are equally breathtaking. Restaurants and shops provide things to do in this romanic oasis.
  • Absolutely beautiful Mediterranean town in the woods of the Dominican Republic in Casa de Campo with cafes and museums, restaurants and tons of photo opportunities. A real time capsule. Bring some sun block 😊
  • I was a part of a wedding at this location. It was an excellent choice. Breathtaking views. Perfect place for romance. The pictures you can take here are amazing. Just wear the right shoes for walking on cobblestone
  • Beautiful place with an old Italian style buildings , fountains, church, nice restaurants with incredible view to the Chavon. It was unforgettable experience to see piece of Europe in Caribbean country.
