National Park of the East, Bayahibe

4.6
#4 of 6 in Nature in La Altagracia Province
Explore the protected landscape and wildlife of National Park of the East. Occupying 791.9 sq km (306 sq mi) of land and marine environments, the national park features a scenic peninsula covered in both subtropical rainforest and subtropical dry forest. An island in the park provides a secluded location for beachside relaxation, and features a wealth of bountiful dive sites among the reefs that lie just offshore. The only settlement on the island, a traditional Dominican fishing village has brightly colored traditional wooden buildings and stalls selling locally made handicrafts. • the island tour was very good, the experience of the Caribbean can be found on this island. Bad thing insitente which are the people who make trade on the beach, if you're wanting to rest, these people will not leave calm, pass each offering massages, cigars and crafts even if you already said no, the same person back pass and insists new mind to offer their products. The island is wonderful beach is very nice. Using much sunscreen here the Sun feels very strong.

  • Saona Island, full day excursion. Take you on a catamaran with a bar and dancing, stop for swim and dive on a beach where you can find starfish and then lunch buffet (you can buy extra lobster option) spend the afternoon on the beach and then back to the resort in fast boats. Very good choice to spend the day!

  • The national Eastern Park in Southeast of Dominican Republic, stop it to get to the most of the tours depart from the town of Bayahibe. There are several places to visit in the Park, without a doubt the most important place is Isla Saona. Most beautiful in the Caribbean, the edge of the beach can find one of the beaches on the island. It is a beach of white sand and finite as talc and the water is crystal clear turquoise. Then this the village of fishermen of Mano Juan where one usually eats something and then visit the sanctuary of the turtles where, if one is lucky, can see newly hatched turtles. You can also tour the Chavón River where a myriad of native flora and fauna can be found. Impossible not to meet somewhere.
