  • It is one of the most biodiverse nature reserves in the Dominican Republic, home to the most important tropical forest in the eastern part of the country, as well as several ecosystems, such as mangroves, coral reefs, beaches, wetlands and coconut trees , and has more than 500 species of plants and hundreds of birds, fish, insects. It is located in the south-east of the country, between La Romana and the mouth of the Yuma River, and the best way to visit it is definitely a full-day excursion with motor-powered spears that start directly from the beautiful Bayahibe beach. First you visit the mangrove area, a wonderful ecosystem in which these plants to survive, have "learned" to filter the salt water of the sea, and later stops at the scenic beach of Palmilla, famous for its Natural Pools, a an extensive area with sandy bottom and clear shallow waters that is about half a kilometer from the coast, and where you can swim in crystal clear waters, populated by a myriad of large red and orange starfish. The last stop is the wonderful Island of Saona, a true Caribbean paradise, white and fine sand like borotalco, very high palm trees, crystal clear waters and many fish. Between a bit of relaxation and a great lunch with grilled fish, you can walk in the small and quaint fishing village of Mano Juan, inhabited by about 250/300 people, with the colorful wooden houses typical of the Caribbean areas. The highlight is definitely the Canto de la Playa, a real corner of paradise, a kilometer beach of fine and white sand, wild, with crystal clear waters and very high palm trees, the typical postcard of the Caribbean.

  • I was on the island of Saona for the first time, 20 years ago... This is the 4th time I come to the Dominican Republic and I go to this island every time, so it is heavenly with its sand so fine and white that it looks like flour, and its warm waters flowing in all shades of turquoise ... This year I was surprised by all the tourist infrastructure that pointed their nose, all along the coast ... The island loses a lot of its wild charm... shame...

  • It all depends on where you will be in this park; me for my part I went through bayahibe with a view towards the island saona and I was disappointed ... first of all we take a taxi to get there and come back 20E A/R, the last kilometer makes you travel and understand that the bitumen is not everywhere -) then has notyre arrived we are told that we must pay a fee to enter the park but also the guide then the Guide; a 14-year-old baby who will make the visit in tap, speaking only Spanish and even when we speak Spanish he answers us NO SE this will be his nickname 2H in this park for 40th taxi - park
