Sari-Sari Waterfall, Dominica

(5/5 based on 40+ reviews on the web)
Hike through a forest, and along and over rivers, to get to Sari-Sari Waterfall, a dramatic cascade of water at the end of a short but strenuous trail. Travel cautiously, as the first part of the trail has perilous drops, and people have been seriously injured. Be prepared for downpours, and bring clothes for swimming at the base of the falls. Be advised that a landslide in the past has necessetated alternate routes to the falls, which are now in place. Taking a guide will help you navigate to the falls. • A very worthwhile tour. The hike begins in the rainforest and offers some ups and downs. The river is crossed eight times. While the water ranges to the knee, if it is slippery and it slips on the stones, then get to the belly. As already announced, walking sticks were not necessary. It took the hands to hold onto the stones. We had a Rastaman as leader, a very mobile guy who returned around barefoot on the rocks. So we made the tour to the waterfall and later it went back to the minibus along the same path. I can recommend this trip only, it's a unique experience rihu131

  • A nice challenging hike. A little more so than what most of the tour operators claim but certainly doable and quotes scenic. Make sure your guide points out the wild growing cocoa, bay and cinnamon. F...  more »

  • We are/were inexperienced. The hurricane has turned this into a boulder puzzlers delight, or nightmare. Took us two hours to get to the falls. Bring someone taller than 5'5" foot to help pull the others up. Look for stacked rocks and footprints for clues to the "path".
  • Tough hike but such natural beauty you will be glad you did it!
  • Beautiful waterfall. The way is fun. The river is crossed several times and walking through dense vegetation.
