  • The Kalinago Barana Aute is a purpose-built attraction which takes its visitors back in time to a typical Kalinago settlement. This open museum explores the lifestyles of the Kalinago people by allowi...  more »
  • The way in the corner on the WNT, I stopped to visit this "Indian" village. The price of $ 10 is very high. There is almost nothing to see if it is pseudo reconstitution of habitats and Carib craft. However, the site is well located but not need to pay to see this in Dominica.

  • The open-air museum is far down on the coast in the Kalinago territory. Means for travelers from the ship (in Roseau) once on the other side of the island drive. We were however in the guest house the current Kalinago Chief Williams and ran there. The "descent" from the main road is quite challenging, especially if you need to back up (in the midday sun). Pretty cheap, you get admission with guided tour of the area, which is quite small. There to see but many plants, and different huts. But the best is the River with a small waterfall, which flows into the sea... with the cliffs. Really gorgeous. Lots of humming birds and lizards. Beautiful nature, when you have little time, is something to look at. Absolutely recommendable. Leadership is of course English, perhaps boring so for children.

  • Very interesting and mind grabbing lecture on Kalinago history. I actually paid close attention. Enjoyed his lecture, the young man spoke with passion. Much like my passion for renewable enery.
