Dominica Botanic Gardens, Roseau

(3.3/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Hailed as one of the best botanical gardens in the the Caribbean region, Dominica Botanic Gardens was built in 1890 and featured flora from around the world from the outset. Misfortune befell the gardens during Hurricane David in 1979, when the storm wreaked havoc and pulled down several old trees. Look for the huge African baobab tree, which fell and crushed a school bus during the storm. Flora in the gardens includes exotic plants like the bois kwaib, Dominica's national tree and flower, as well as some wildlife, such as lizards and hummingbirds. Check the calendar before you go to see if any cricket matches, parades, or music festivals will take place during your visit. • The Botanical Garden in back of Trafalgar Falls. 5 minutes by car and we had already seen all the Botanical Garden. Not worth the stop. General Dominica has no tourist infrastructure. And to the Brazilian audience is interesting, considering the strength of the island are the forests, very similar to those of Brazil.

  • Amazing place to see. The wild and unique variety of exotic plants and trees are a great addition to any hike in the Roseau area
  • Great place to have a picnic and enjoy nature. Great for running and excercising.
  • We stopped here on a day trip out of Jungle Bay Resort. Interesting story about the huge tree that crushed a school bus.
  • Nice place to stop for a picnic. The bus is interesting.
  • Well its always quiet but theres really nothing to do so u gotta make ur own fun. People usually are seen meeting up to sit around or go elsewhere, eating, studing, gossiping about the few passerbys and around one it is littered with parental transportation and prissy daughters gettin into it
