At The Karen Blixen Museum, see the room where the author of the novel "Out of Africa," lived most of her life. The family estate that belonged to her father is preserved as a bird sanctuary in keeping with the writer's wishes. Find out more about the artist from a documentary exhibit on her life and work, which features original scripts, drawings, and paintings as well as biographies and letters. The museum also houses a library, a film screening room, a cafe, a shop, and an auditorium used for lectures and special exhibitions. You'll find the writer's burial plot under a huge old beech tree in the garden. Make The Karen Blixen Museum part of your personalized Rungsted itinerary using our Rungsted trip itinerary tool.

  • A very sweet and informative little museum with very nice and dedicated staff. The Restaurant had a very meager menu, unusual for Denmark, but also here the staff was very friendly.

  • I love the place. And i had the chance to visit the house of Karen Blixen in Nairobi. What a story, the one of Karen Blixen. You need to read her story before you visit the place.

  • We loved visiting Karen Blixen's house. We were at her farm in Nairobi before, and enjoyed visiting here now. The coffee and cake in the cafe are really nice as well.
  • So lovely home museum, my heart left there! I'll come back.
  • Unless you are a fan of her publications, this isn't really worth visiting. The gardens seem a bit run down, and the home is just ok.
  • If you liked "Out of Africa" this will appeal to you.
  • Very nice spot. Intimate museum for those who love her books
