  • The Museum consists of an art section, where the works of former psychiatric patients exhibited. Especially prominent is Ovartaci-of tossens artworks. The works are sometimes grim, but they are also quirky, wonderful and amazing. On the floor above is a historical museum, it displays the history of Psychiatry and the treatment of mentally ill patients through time. Very educational! The Museum a clearly worth a visit, so please hurry. The future is uncertain for this small museum, when the hospital moves to Skejby.

  • Super fine museum specializes in outsider art. The buildings are amazing and the exhibitions are an exciting peek into another world

  • Museum Ovartaci was created in 1975. It is located in Risskov in connection with Psychiatric Hospital. It contains both an art museum and a historical museum. The art is done by former patients and tells a little about their State of mind. Central to the exhibition we meet Louis M, he called himself Overtaci (parent company). He remained there for 56 years from 1929-85 .... He was very prolific in his art-unfortunately the Museum closure threatened. Take a quick decision, and visit the site. Cheap entre. In connection with the Museum there is a small cafe, run by the inmates. Eating Cannon cheaply.

  • I thought this was a very insightful museum with exhibitions of patient artwork and historical items relating to psychiatry. However as an international visitor I could only view at items and artwork with a little understanding as it was only in Danish. As a person involved and interested in mental health issues this disappointed me.
  • Bottom floor has an art collection (quite ok!) and the top floor is a bit chaotic collection of rooms with furniture and items from the hospital's past: a library, printing room, dining room. Do not expect to witness a real historical hospital ward.
  • Good control. Nice rooms. Super food, and even cheap.

Where to stay in Aarhus

For a price, you can stay close to the main sights of this charming city at one of the many hotels located in Aarhus' historical old town. While it may feel like a romantic small town with its cobbled streets, accommodations here, especially centrally located options or hotels along the marina, are just as expensive as in many other Scandinavian cities. Moderately priced hotels and hostels are limited, so if you are traveling on a budget, book early at a spot outside the city center. For nature lovers passing through the city, there are also campgrounds located near Aarhus in the beautiful surrounding forests.
