  • Red brick Cathedral to bright white Gothic Interior. Note an altarpiece but richly decorated. The Interior is stripped, sober and gives off a certain harmony.

  • A must for everybody interested in churches and take your time to visit the crypt.
  • Great achitected building in the middle of the city.
  • Beautiful architecture. The organ's sound is just amazing.
  • St. Canute's Cathedral (Danish: Odense Domkirke or Sct. Knuds Kirke), also known as Odense Cathedral, is named after the Danish king Canute the Saint (Danish: Knud den Hellige), otherwise Canute IV. It is a fine example of Brick Gothic architecture. The church's most visited section is the crypt where the remains of Canute and his brother Benedict are on display. Worth visiting when you are in town.
  • A piece of history. The king it was named for is lying in the crypt. Free and easy to get to

Where to stay in Odense

Variety is no problem when searching for a place to stay in Odense, the birthplace of Hans Christian Anderson. The city is a transportation hub for the rest of the island, and many of its sights can be seen by foot or bicycle no matter which neighborhood you choose to stay in. There is no shortage of hotels here, though it is more expensive to stay in the city center. For more affordable options, look outside the center, or if you want a prime location, a basic hostel in the city center. If you prefer a more personalized experience, the city boasts a number of guesthouses and family-owned bed and breakfasts.
