Hans Christian Andersen Museum, Odense
(3.6/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Learn about the poet's life from his childhood years as the son of a struggling shoemaker, to his prolific career as an author at Hans Christian Andersen Museum. The museum opened in 1908 in the small yellow house, which is considered his birthplace. A reconstruction of the artist's study displays personal items, including his walnut writing desk and his writing set--glass ink containers on a brass-ornamented wooden tray. Take the time to hear his tales, such as "Little Mermaid" or "The Princess on the Pea," at one of the many listening posts. The poet's creative range is also evident through his drawings and collages. Buy a book by H.C. Andersen, available in several languages at the museum shop. • Filled with lots of experiences and great atmosphere. A place where you get the whole Andersen's life through

  • Definitely worth a visit! A plus is that when you log on, you can get a booklet in Russian, which though not very much, but at least something written about exposure. If you understand a little English, can read the exposition. Really interesting, at least from me after this visit arose a great desire to read a biography of storyteller in his native Russian.

  • This charming Museum that tells about the life and historais of Hans Christian. It pays to know a little more about it since, and one of the authors of the most famous fabulas like the ugly duckling.
