Mons Klint, Moen
Categories: Geologic Formations, Nature & Parks
Made of the remains of shells from millions of microscopic sea creatures, Mons Klint fall 120 m (394 ft) to the sea below. The cliffs emerged at the end of the Ice Age about 11,000 years ago. Marked paths help walkers, riders, and cyclists discover the surroundings. Vantage points along the edge offer views of the sea. Take the stairs to get to the beach. Look for fossils and ambers along the shore, and watch for orchids under the stairs. The cliffs are home to the peregrine falcon, the world's fastest bird, and the rare large blue butterfly. Visit the 18th century park at the northern end of the cliffs that features small houses, ponds, and rolling lawns. Very nice place, i love denmark. There are even falcons that are living and hunting there. You can even look for fossiles
One of the best sea side mountain edges i have visited. If you visit to boree in cophenhawn you should check out this place
Prepare for lots of stairs... but worth it.
Went on a very rainy day and even then the cliffs were a sight to behold. Very beautiful cliffs and forest area. The beach is okay but hard to manage if you don't have very good walking shoes on since it is extremely rocky. Also beware of the stairs, not a problem for us but I can see some people being shocked by the number of stairs. Parking is 35 DKR at the geocenter which is where most of the trails start; there is also a small gift shop and a cafe.
Gorgeous! Budget at much time for hiking as possible.
