  • The klosterkirke in Mariager is well worth a visit. It is beautifully restored has a very new a splendid sounding organ . The whole place is steeped in history and so immaculately kept.

  • Mariager Church was originally established as a Bridgettine monastery church created as a subsection of Maribo Monastery and consecrated in 1446. It is the last Monastery established order in Denmark. Medieval church: Mariager Church has been much larger than it is today-as 5 times higher since only the monks ' smaller, western part of the Church escaped demolition by redevelopment in 1788-1789. Mariager Abbey was built in the 1400 's century in a time when the Catholic Church made attempts to tighten itself up, at a time when the Danish bishops had greater power than ever, and in a time when kongemangten was in the process of appropriating increased power in relation to the nobility and clergy. Bridgettine order, who founded the monastery, is the last of the medieval monastic orders that creates monasteries in Denmark. It happens in Maribo in 1418 and in Mariager in 1446. Parent formation of the order, which is still preserved, is located in the town of Vadstena of Sweden. The Holy Saviour's Order.
