Rubjerg Knude, Lokken

Rubjerg Knude stands as an abandoned lighthouse on the coast of the North Sea. Moving sands have begun to gradually bury the lighthouse, and it is expected to fall into the sea by 2023. There are paths around the lighthouse where you can hike, jog, or even bike. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and protect your camera equipment as powerful winds can sometimes blow the sand quite strongly. • Having read previous reviews, I went in place that began the Golden Hour. The panorama is spectacular sand dunes, shame about the presence of some dark clouds that have somewhat limited the sunset. From the parking lot you have to walk about 10/15 minutes but worth it.

  • After a short walk from the parking lot you are met by a really strange and awesome view of the lighthouse. It arises next to two large dunes and is a about as high as you can get in this part of Denm...  more »
  • Bring your glasses to protect your eyes from the sand and do not forget your k-way! There is a lot of wind! The environment and the armosphere is absolutely incredible!  more »

  • Perhaps Denmark's most hostile place. As you walk to the lighthouse you'll feel the sand blowing in your face at 40km/h (if not more), so be sure to bring some sunglasses and a cap! Once you get to the lighthouse you'll truly feel like your are out of this world, with the sea on one side and the dark wooded horizon on the other, plus a landscape that looks more like Arabia than Scandinavia. The lighthouse visit was brief; the iron stairs were a little dated but worth climbing as they'll probably vanish in the next ten years! Caution is nevertheless advised. I could say a lot more, but put it simply, I'd recommend this place to anybody who's ready to try a completely new extra-Scandinavian experience!
  • Great place to visit, though coloured by the great weather! The views are amazing, with good parking. The house itself will fall down soon, so quickly go visit it!
  • Beautiful place totally different of Copenaghen, you have huge beach of golden color sand, with fares, small restaurant with specialities, traditionals dishes, we met some people launching eggs to a man's face because he will get married, it was a traditional game. People are very friendly. The weather is very cold, think of a big and efficient coat
  • Tower can be visited for free. You can still see some leftovers from the museum that was there before nature dismantled it. Extremely fast winds are blowing from the sea taking lots of sand with it. You will feel that on your way from the parking to the lighthouse. We had sand in our hair, ears and trousers after this trip. But it is still worth it.
  • That's quite a walk to get there kind of underground place great view excellent spot for photographs.
