Trapholt, Kolding
(4.3/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Discover Nanna Ditzel's furniture, Richard Mortensen paintings, and Arne Jacobsen's Kubeflex home at Trapholt. A team of architects designed the museum around a long wall reminiscent of the "running fence" project by the Bulgarian-American landscape artist Christo. The interior of the long wall serves as a museum walkway, which separates the parking lot from the sculpture garden. Bring a packed lunch for a picnic in the apple orchard overlooking Kolding Fjord. The museum also houses collections of handicrafts, mainly pottery and textiles, and contemporary Danish furniture, including more than 500 chairs from the 20th century. Put Trapholt on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Kolding vacation trip planner.

  • Trapholt is Koldings "modern" art museum. There are no particularly large and the permanent exhibitions is also pretty manageable. However, the location is unique with a privileged view over Kolding fjord. There have been more successful over the years and exciting special exhibitions, just as they often have very popular markets in connection with the holidays. I will definitely recommend to check out their website in order to inform themselves about the current events and special exhibitions in a visit, otherwise it is not worth the detour. Just be aware of the level differences in the buildings, mobility-impaired can have problems.

  • Exciting udstíllinger both the fixed and the rotating. Unfortunately there was just closed an exhibition, when we were there, and we were in the process of packing a new exhibition, but it gives us the opportunity to come back. Really nice shop with lots of great gift ideas. The Museum is well worth a visit.

  • I loved this museum! The building itself is already worth a visit. The exhibitions are very nice and good organised. Highly recommend the small free tour to Arne Jacobsens house in the garden. And the...  more »
