  • the drifting sand forced the government to tear down this church and today the tower is left as a warning for the seafarers and a sign of the power of nature. the surroundings are also nice nature.  more »
  • In my opinion one of the most interesting places in Northern Jutland would be covered. When it was a monastery here, but over time the sand absorbed it. Now over dunes towers only the upper part of the Church. About attractions include free parking, from which the signs to the Church can be reached in 5-7 minutes.

  • Around the 1300 was the largest brick Church in the region, but the continuous desertification has condemned the slow oblivion. The sand covered faster than you could build around 1600. In 1700 almost any door was closed and we had to dig in the sand continuously for the passage of shifting sand dunes. Were brought via tapestries and furnishings to safeguard them. What now remains is very impressive and deserves to be sought as an attraction to visit.

  • Such a pretty, sand-covered church. Only the bell tower is left but it's a very pretty and peaceful place. You can borrow or rent a bike and cycle from the main town of Skagen to here. The scenery along the road is also very beautiful. :-)
  • An old church where the main part is buried under the sand. You can see the outline in the sand above the main "ship".
  • Covered in sand. A little challenging to climb top the top of the tower, but fun at the same time. Also a great view from the top.
  • Very interesting to see how nature goes his own way. You can only see the top of the tower, the rest of the church dissapeared under the sand...
  • Old church tower. Nothing much more than that. It's nice and all but its missing a bit more unique factor.
