Create an itinerary including Kronborg
A place of pilgrimage for Shakespearean scholars from around the world, Kronborg represents one of Europe's most recognizable Renaissance structures and is a World Heritage Site. Built in the 1420s as a stronghold for King Eric VII, the castle shot to fame in the early 17th century when it inspired Shakespeare to use it as a setting for "Hamlet." Follow in Hamlet's footsteps in the soldier's quarters and storerooms, which stretch beneath the castle and contain a famed statue of the legendary Viking chief Holger the Dane. • One of the attractions of the famous fortress is the gallery of performances of Hamlet within his putative castle. Richard Burton in his 1954 role is great as is that other famous thespian John...

  • It is a beautiful and well-preserved castle and the "island" on which it resides has gorgeous terrain and views. I just feel the cost of a ticket and the amount of things you can see inside it do not go hand in hand. The exhibition was disappointing to me.
  • We were short on time so we didn't buy a ticket to go inside. The perimeter is full of interesting things to look at like knolls and cannons. You'll find plenty of coffee shops with chocolates and cool female servers with bangs and thick rimmed eye-glasses.
  • You have got to love this place. A historical castle in gorgeous surroundings. The exhibition it self could do with a touch up, as the story telling is a bit outdated. But come for Hamlet, enjoy coffee from Strandvejsristeriet, and remember the magnificence.
  • No visit to Copenhagen is complete without a tour of Kronborg. Going back on time to the 1600 walking the beautiful chambers. The crown jewels exhibit is amazing The surrounding gardens beautiful
  • Beautiful castle and surroundings - lot of history. Go for a walk in the city of Elsinore as well, a historic old city. If you care for history read about the castle, it has played a great role in the Danish history...
