Streetdome, Haderslev

Categories: Outdoor Activities
Inspirock Rating:
4.8/5 based on a few reviews on the web

StreetDome is a unique and innovative culturehouse, located at the new growth- and development area by the harbor in Haderslev, Denmark.

StreetDome is conceived to be the main attraction in Haderslev´s new harbor area containing culture-,

education-, business- and residential buildings, developed to replace the old industrial harbor.

The culture house contains indoors and outdoor facilities for action sports and street culture, with a core focus on skateboarding, rollerskating, bmx, parkour, climbing, mountainbiking, discgolf, concerts and cultural events.

“Everything must be skateable”

That is a core StreetDome statement about the philosophy of functional and performative architecture, that can create physical activity, social meetings and cultural innovation.

StreetDome is a bottom up project, where a group of users teamed up with a development team, all with roots in skateboarding and action sports. The vision was to make a facility that sets a new standard for streetsport facilities and develop a city brand for the town of Haderslev.

  • The place for skateboard, BMX and mountaineering interest. Was and looked at all the young people who could really take advantage of this construction. Both outdoors and inside. Located at the end of the harbour so you can reach it even without a car. The tower can be seen on hold. Worth seeing.

  • Had heard about Street Dome and we were in Haderslev as tourists and went for a solskinstur on the new waterfront and can remotely view the new attraction. An eye drops silo painted white and black with fish and whale motifs and DOM as well as the raw concrete on the Park is a work of art in itself and also a feast for the eyes for the age group who may not be able to use the site actively. Street Dome has been a long time coming and we began construction in 2013 and it was inaugurated in 2014, Denmark's most expensive plant of this kind so far to 34 mill. Built with support from the Maersk Fund. On the silo is a great climbing wall, skateboards, scooters, inline skates and BMX can be used on the 4500 m2 ramps and tables Out and on the 1500 m2 inside the Cathedral. Unfortunately, the DOM does not open, so we have to come back. Opening hours are Mon-Tue closed, Wed-Fri 15-22 and Sat-Sun 12-20. You can rent equipment. We had the pleasure to see some young people use the place out on bmx, inline and skateboard and wow where they were skillful and courageous. A great place and a huge plus for the city of Haderslev and population that we would recommend to visit also for non users and we will definitely again.
