Oresund Bridge, Copenhagen

4.3
Drive or take a bus ride across Oresund Bridge, the longest cable-tied road and rail bridge in Europe. Spanning about 8 km (5 mi), the structure runs from the Swedish coast to an artificial island in the middle of the Oresund Sound. An underwater tunnel completes the crossing to the other side of the sound, linking the metropolitan areas of Copenhagen and Malmo. The bridge consists of two railway tracks and four road lines supported by tall concrete towers that allow 57 m (187 ft) of headroom for ships passing beneath the structure. Avoid long delays on the bridge by checking current traffic and weather conditions before you hit the road. • Smooth overpass between Sweden and Denmark-either by car or train. If you go over with the car more than once a year, it is worth to join the Brobizz-agreement. On the trains, it is also possible to go over the bike. Unfortunately, there is no cycle tracks on the bridge.

  • The Oresund Bridge is an impressive piece of engineering. Recommend view from the airplane, to appreciate it as complete (as it appears from the sea and rises). Cross it, it is romantic and allows to visit Malmo, but it fails to measure all the bridge

  • It is true that it is a wonder of bridge/tunnel and you freak out thinking with as they have done, but 410 DKK for once is friendly! €120 round-trip from Denmark to Sweden... got much cheaper train, but not what we knew

  • Amazing Bridge! Connecting Sweden and Denmark, half of it is above the water and rest half is inside! I was awestruck when I found this out while actually travelling over the bridge. I was able to see the bridge just till midway and thought the visibility might be low hence the rest half isn't visible but as traveled closer, that is when I realized that rest half of it is under-water.
  • This bridge connects Sweden with Denmark. The view is super cool if you are on a ferry or cruise ship. Driving over the bridge is also another amazing experience.
  • The best bridge in the world. I love it so much I go over it more than twice a month. Some people even go see it every day. It is so popular some politicians die to get the Malmö and Copenhagen police to work together.
  • Impresive modern Engineering work. Amaizing experience to be here, in both sides of the bridge.
  • Travellers can use the ‘Öresund ticket’ to go by ferry to Denmark and then travel over the Öresund bridge to Sweden. In future this offer will be available from EUR 75.00 in the Economy tariff whether or not the ferry passengers start out from Germany in Puttgarden or Rostock. The ‘Sweden ticket’ from Scandlines again combines the Puttgarden-Rødby or Rostock-Gedser routes with the ferry connection Helsingør-Helsingborg and can also be booked outside of the peak season in the Economy tariff from EUR 75.00.

Where to stay in Copenhagen

Most of the hotels in Copenhagen are located in the central Vesterbro or hip Indre By areas, though there are many more adventurous (and somewhat more affordable) places to stay during your vacation. As in the rest of Denmark, accommodations in Copenhagen are quite expensive. If you're traveling on a tight budget, consider camping along the Mølleå River or staying in one of the city's many backpacker hostels. If you prefer an inexpensive hotel, explore options in the Helgolandsgade and Colbjørnsensgade neighborhoods. For a taste of Denmark's art scene, head to the up-and-coming Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn areas. Travelers who like to stay outside of the main tourist areas should set their sights on one of the city's suburbs, like the northern section where you can stay at a beachfront hotel or on a houseboat.
