Where to stay in Copenhagen

Most of the hotels in Copenhagen are located in the central Vesterbro or hip Indre By areas, though there are many more adventurous (and somewhat more affordable) places to stay during your vacation. As in the rest of Denmark, accommodations in Copenhagen are quite expensive. If you're traveling on a tight budget, consider camping along the Mølleå River or staying in one of the city's many backpacker hostels. If you prefer an inexpensive hotel, explore options in the Helgolandsgade and Colbjørnsensgade neighborhoods. For a taste of Denmark's art scene, head to the up-and-coming Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn areas. Travelers who like to stay outside of the main tourist areas should set their sights on one of the city's suburbs, like the northern section where you can stay at a beachfront hotel or on a houseboat.

  • The aquarium itself is stunning and the views over the water amazing! The aquarium itself is quite small but very well laid out. A bit out of the way but easy to get to on the city Bus!  more »

  • A very nicely done place where you can see and learn a lot. The live feedings are very interesting as they don't only feed the animals there but also explain a bit about them. Also the aquariums are extremely clean and some of them are quite big. We visited on a Monday afternoon, the place didn't seem to be too crowded, still it was quite noisy as some kids where quite loud. I'm not sure how noisy it gets when the place is really filled up with visitors. It seems like a good place to take your kids, as they had quite some fun there. It may not be optimal in case you prefer a rather quiet ambiance.
  • While not the largest aquarium I have been too, what they do have is excellently done! 2-3 hours is enough to thoroughly explore the entire aquarium and the offered presentations. This was a great activity before an afternoon flight out of Copenhagen. (There is a free shuttle with aquarium ticket purchase to the aquarium, and then one more stop to the airport when you are done.)
  • This is a fantastic aquarium. I have been to many aquariums around the world but this is definitely up there. It is a beautiful building in its own right and inside is very intuitive to get around and the tanks are all very well displayed. The piranha show and the butterfly rainforest are fantastic, though do get busy around show time. The large shark tank and underwater tunnel are each a sight to behold. Fantastic to see. Really recommend for adults and kids alike. It was very busy when we went and large queues to get in with the Copenhagen card so maybe book online beforehand if possible.
  • Definitely a good attraction, a bit pricey but fun for kids. There are several spectacular tanks, and everything looks like it is very well maintained for an aquarium. Would recommend for a half day trip.
  • Great place to stop off on the way back to the airport. They have lockers to put your luggage in and then it is a 1km walk. The pork roll in the cafe puss exceptional!
