  • The Latin quarter is the University and cultural centre of the city. It was a discovery for us a bit random, still a nice surprise. Surprisingly entertaining and animated is not really a neighborhood from cities in Northern Europe. It is located just behind the Cathedral of Copenhagen and the Strøget, a meeting place for many students. The Latin quarter of Copenhagen was founded around the old University of Copenhagen founded in the late 15th century and is also the reason of its name. A bit like has happened to the Latin quarter, this part of town was so named because in ancient times on the streets you only speak the Latin language. The neighborhood, though very different from the Parisian, extends from Vor Frue Plads in the East along Store Kannikestraede and Skinnergade up to Købmagergade; North on Fiolstraede up to Nørre Voldgade. It is characterized by quiet streets and pleasant and beautiful and colorful square Grabrødretorv from the 17th century, where there are some restaurants and cafes. At the bottom of the area is very central in the city: the Cathedral, the round tower, the shopping streets are all around.

  • As in many European cities, this district grew around the University, hence its name, since in the middle ages latin was the language of scholars. It is currently full of business small and quaint cafes. There are many churches and the atmosphere is very picturesque.

  • Latin quarter in Copenhagen, by analogy with Paris, called the area around the city's main University. Notable sights here are the University itself with its library, Cathedral of our Lady and St. Peter's Church. On the streets of the quarter nice wander enjoying student spirit. There are plenty of cafés where you can grab a bite to eat.
