Lægerne Ved Kongens Have, Copenhagen

(4.5/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
At Lægerne Ved Kongens Have, walk the Knight's Path, a lime-tree avenue which intersects the Lady's Path near the center of the park. King Christian IV established a pleasure garden in the Renaissance style  in 1606, which was redesigned in the Baroque style in the 18th century. The oldest and most visited park in the city features statues, monuments, and several historical buildings, including Rosenborg Barracks, home to the Royal Guards. Look for the oldest sculpture in the garden of a lion with a humanoid face which is tearing apart a horse. The early 17th century sculpture most likely illustrates a Persian legend about the battle between light and darkness. • Sharing boundaries with the Rosenborg Castle, the King's gardens or Have has plenty of scenic views of the vintage buildings dating back to the 1600s.  more »
  • We walked through the park on our way to the castle. Grounds are well maintained. Some interesting statues too. Very pretty and quiet in the snow, but I am sure it is a very popular in the summer. Ple...  more »
  • We visited this is snow-covered park. The hiking trails where yet dangerous smooth. So this park is not recommended in the winter period. In the summer when the flowers and plants in bloom are going to be nice. But in the winter it is definitely not recommended.
