KFC Rådhuspladsen, Copenhagen

2.9
KFC Rådhuspladsen serves as an important spot for the city, as it's a popular venue for demonstrations and street performances. City hall is the most notable building on the square; it was erected between 1892 and 1905 at the site of an old hay market. The square features many sculptures and fountains, including a statue of H.C. Andersen and a fountain depicting a fight between a bull and a dragon. Notice the rotating sculpture of a girl perched high on the Richs building, telling the weather. When the weather is clear the statue of a girl comes out with her bicycle, and when it is raining the girl holds an umbrella. • I think even though Central Copenhagen is no exaggeration. Events are sometimes in wide square. Hans Christian Andersen statue.

  • Located on the city square near The Stroget and Tivoli it is virtually impossible to miss Radhuspladsen when visiting Copenhagen, but beyond its impressive size there really is not much to see save fo...  more »
  • Great open space in front of the Town Hall in Køben. Here you can observe people's life in the middle between the Strøget shopping street and the Boardwalk. Free toilet (clean and monitored) is a big plus on a long day's hiking in the King's city.

  • Great food and awesome staff. I ate here two times in two days!
  • My Fries were rather soggy and they forgot my drink, had to ask for it at the counter. Was expecting crispier chicken too. The toilet was dirty. Overall, they could have put more effort.
  • If you're expecting a KFC like you can have anywhere else in the world don't it's not that great in Denmark.
  • Usually very crowded and service is not good. Also not so clean.
  • I have had the feeling that the stuff dont like to work here... The Restaurant and the Toilet was not only not clean... It is better to get the food and eat at home

Where to stay in Copenhagen

Most of the hotels in Copenhagen are located in the central Vesterbro or hip Indre By areas, though there are many more adventurous (and somewhat more affordable) places to stay during your vacation. As in the rest of Denmark, accommodations in Copenhagen are quite expensive. If you're traveling on a tight budget, consider camping along the Mølleå River or staying in one of the city's many backpacker hostels. If you prefer an inexpensive hotel, explore options in the Helgolandsgade and Colbjørnsensgade neighborhoods. For a taste of Denmark's art scene, head to the up-and-coming Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn areas. Travelers who like to stay outside of the main tourist areas should set their sights on one of the city's suburbs, like the northern section where you can stay at a beachfront hotel or on a houseboat.
