Gammel Strand, Copenhagen

(40 reviews on the web)
Neighborhood Tourist Spot
Experience Copenhagen's lively side at Gammel Strand, one of the city's oldest and most picturesque streets. A natural beach once occupied this site, around which formed the small fishing village that was to become Copenhagen. Today, the street is most recognizable for its canal lined with colorful 18th- and 19th-century houses. But it also houses some of the city's most popular bars and cafes, a must-see for those looking to explore the city's nightlife. You can also head here to catch a boat tour of the canals. Make Gammel Strand a centerpiece of your Copenhagen vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Copenhagen itinerary builder.
