Frederiksberg Have, Copenhagen

3.7
#5 of 27 in Parks in Copenhagen
Enjoy the natural landscape of one of the largest green spaces in Denmark at Frederiksberg Have. Originally established in connection with the construction of Frederiksberg Palace, the park was designed as an English-style landscape garden, complete with winding paths, lakes, large trees, waterfalls, and grottoes. It is now a nice place to have a picnic, hold group gatherings, feed the ducks and swans, or simply take a leisurely walk. Stop by the castle in the middle of the park, or take a boat ride. Be sure to check out the famous "elephant viewpoint," where visitors can often catch glimpses of the elephants at the neighboring zoo. • We reserve the last day of our visit to Frederiksberg. Disappointment. We could just relax on the lawn because there were many droppings. We decided to go and enjoy again the Nyhavn.

  • It was a drizzly day so we were just out exploring and happened onto the art exhibit in the cisterne below the park-so glad we were able to see it-check to see if anything is showing there currently-v...  more »
  • Huge park where locals have picnics. Easy to go by bus and metro. Not that much to see, but nice place to walk through.  more »

  • Warm coffee for the walk in the park
  • AW, it was once again a vexed experience going to the Funder. The place is just so central that I have tried several times in the hope that it could be better. The coffee was again half cold and bitter and service on the bottom. You feel in the way, when the staff is so friendly and the little they have been each time, I've put my legs in the otherwise pleasantly decorated place. Today, the man behind the counter took sour against the order and then joined the coffee over the counter, so the whole paddle out on board and saucer, which he did not work to take care of or regret. He spoke vrissent, looked at us, there should not even be operated, but seemed irritated and don't care. Standing even to pick up their orders and clean up after themselves, which neither match the prices, quality or level of service in General.

Where to stay in Copenhagen

Most of the hotels in Copenhagen are located in the central Vesterbro or hip Indre By areas, though there are many more adventurous (and somewhat more affordable) places to stay during your vacation. As in the rest of Denmark, accommodations in Copenhagen are quite expensive. If you're traveling on a tight budget, consider camping along the Mølleå River or staying in one of the city's many backpacker hostels. If you prefer an inexpensive hotel, explore options in the Helgolandsgade and Colbjørnsensgade neighborhoods. For a taste of Denmark's art scene, head to the up-and-coming Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn areas. Travelers who like to stay outside of the main tourist areas should set their sights on one of the city's suburbs, like the northern section where you can stay at a beachfront hotel or on a houseboat.
