Religious Site
Commonly known as the Marble Church, Frederik's Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church with the largest religious dome in Scandinavia. Construction began in 1749, but due to financial troubles and unfortunate circumstances, the church remained unfinished until 1894. From the outside, the Baroque architecture is reminiscent of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Make a quick stop inside to view the decorative lining of the dome, which spans 31 m (101 ft). Entry is free, but on certain days of the week you are allowed to pay a fee to climb to a viewpoint where you can enjoy bird's-eye views of the whole city. Check the website for further information, and for dates and times of services if you would like to worship. • We went to visit The Marble Church hoping to climb to the top of the dome - second largest in Europe - but were disappointed to learn that's only possible on Saturdays and Sundays.  more »
  • It's a very beautiful church and the olive green dome makes it so much more beautiful. It reminded me of Venice's Grand Canal but it is still very different. The interiors are make you feel very welco...  more »

  • If you are at Amalienborg either way you should visit. It's beautiful and free. The view from the top should be lovely.
  • Beautiful church! Also inside! Great cultural building! Advise to visit!
  • Beautiful church. The main entrance is from the south, at the end of the street that runs north from Amalienborg Palace. Worth a 10-15 minute visit. The interior is reminiscent of the Parthenon.
  • Very beautiful church. A good spot to relax and meditate when life gets to be too much. Postcards of the interior/exterior are available for purchase in the vestibule of the church. Quite overcrowded with tourists at mid-day.
  • A must visit! Very beautiful from the outside as well the inside. I love Churches and Cathedrals!
