  • January is a time people turn not to visit a seaside village. It was extremely quiet when we were there. The colourful small houses were really beautiful. Took some good photos there. If you prefer to...  more »
  • Dragør, time froze and nothing removed of the charm of this small fishing village. Easily accessible from the centre of Copenhagen by bus, does the detour. Rustic shops with good products, good gastronomy and calm down, calm down, calm down.

  • So I had read a great deal about the history of the escape of the Jewish people of Denmark from this village. So I had planned a trip here. Unfortunately, the guide did not know anything about it and ...  more »

  • It's a very quite and small port located on the outskirts of Copenhagen. When you start driving towards the port, you can already start seeing the small town culture. Small houses, less people and less noise. The wind is generally very strong there and just in autumn it can be very cold. So, if you're planning to stay in a boathouse here or just to go for a visit, make sure to take some warm clothes, so that you don't suffer from the cold and strong winds.
  • Lovely setting with harbour, cozy Inns/Pubs. and 400 y.o. Dutch immigrant houses. Great view of the suspension bridge between Denmark and Sweden from the harbour, too!
  • Went on a glorious, sunny, spring day and cycled from Copenhagen. There are cycle paths all the way, and you can enjoy the views of fields, horses, old churches and cottages. The Havn itself was very charming, as well as the Old Town. We bought lunch at the local Netto and picnicked outside. Lovely half day trip, would recommend.
  • Awesome viewpoint to Øresund bridge and planes arriving/departing Kastrup airport!
  • Lovely old world harbour with real fishermen amongst the rich boat owners.

Where to stay in Copenhagen

Most of the hotels in Copenhagen are located in the central Vesterbro or hip Indre By areas, though there are many more adventurous (and somewhat more affordable) places to stay during your vacation. As in the rest of Denmark, accommodations in Copenhagen are quite expensive. If you're traveling on a tight budget, consider camping along the Mølleå River or staying in one of the city's many backpacker hostels. If you prefer an inexpensive hotel, explore options in the Helgolandsgade and Colbjørnsensgade neighborhoods. For a taste of Denmark's art scene, head to the up-and-coming Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn areas. Travelers who like to stay outside of the main tourist areas should set their sights on one of the city's suburbs, like the northern section where you can stay at a beachfront hotel or on a houseboat.
