Designmuseum Danmark, Copenhagen

3.7
Designmuseum Danmark showcases a relatively small collection of Danish design classics from phones and stereos to chairs and kitchen utensils. Look for Royal Copenhagen and Georg Jensen tableware. Each year the center also features a number of special exhibits on both Danish and international design. The building houses a gift shop, conference rooms, and a cafe offering a traditional cafe layout in a modern lounge environment. Get a quick cup of coffee to go while roaming through the exhibits, or stay put for a cup of tea and a croissant. • This place is perfect for those who love shapes, colours, modern and history about clothes, furniture and etc.  more »
  • Housed in a beautiful old building, the museum covers a wide range of design disciplines. From furniture (of course, this is Denmark) to fashion, grapes & industrial design. I visited with a 7 year ol...  more »
  • Although inspirational, the museum has an old fashioned layout. Great design items, but much simply clumped together - e.g. the fashion exhibit. The chairs section is good.  more »

  • Amazing museum for every taste. Historical clothes, furniture, architecture designs, fashion can all be found here and people from every age group can have fun. Youngsters under 26 enter for free and thats great as also students do. The building on its own is amazing. Highly recommend it.
  • The Design Museum, while not strictly a must-see for people visiting Copenhagen, can still be an integral part of experiencing and understanding Danish life and culture. The designs on exhibit range from exotic and historical to contemporary and common. Almost every Dane will recognize one or several items from their childhood in here - that's how integrated design is in Danish culture. And even if YOU don't, you'll at least leave with an insight into how the opening if Japan affected Danish design, how clothes shape the person, and much more. Lovely museum shop and covenient location. It's even free for students and people under 26, so you might as well drop by if you have the time. You might even be surprised, and find that something you knew was actually really good design.
  • Very impressive collection . Nice présentation. People from the museum very friendly. The Danish have designed a lot of stuff you won't think. And from your every day life. Shop and restaurant available. Didn't try the restaurant but smells good. For the museum. Nice temporary exhibition. Black velvet. Really nice and able to look to the clothes really close. No windows. The normal exhibitions is really impressive and a good presentation. Some part look bit old fashioned museum.
  • Wonderful museum, free for under 26's / students. Lots of great stuff on the history and development of the danish chair. Fashion side was cool considering I don't really have much of an interest in it, a welcome surprise. Lovely way to kill an hour or so in Copenhagen.
  • Beautiful museum showcasing danish design. The gallery dedicated to the chair design is particularly interesting and suggestive. The initial showcase of Japanese and danish design in comparison also very nice. The latter parts are more confused, a bit too many objects crowded together. However is definitely a must see in Copenhagen, and inner garden muat be beautiful when weather allows.
