Natural History Museum · Garden
For a free lesson about Denmark's rich plant life, visit Botanical Garden, an oasis of greenery in the city's central district. The extensive park encompasses more than 10 hectares (24 acres) and serves both educational and recreational purposes. A complex of 27 greenhouses are historic buildings from the 1870s that now shelter domestic and exotic plant species, including palms, cacti, orchids, and begonias. A special climate-controlled greenhouse recreates the habitat suitable for growing Arctic plants, while another building protects a large collection of cycad plants, some of which are more than a century old. • The Gardens are well maintained and a joy to walk through. There are main paths that are wide and easy to traverse, as well as small hidden paths that cut through the scenery. This provides variety and places to explore and sit quietly. The main gardens are free to enter and quite large. There is a small entrance fee for the butterfly exhibit and palm house, but it's well worth the price. The variety of plants they have is spectacular as well as the amount of butterflies. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the day.
  • Beautiful place to spend a good time with your family n friends. Kids can enjoy in the open space and beautiful attractions around. The flowers, little pond with the ducks etc are a treat to watch.
  • Lovely place to see. The plants are all in incredible shape and looking marvelous and the butterfly room is absolutely stunning. Would highly recommend to visit if you enjoy botanical gardens.
  • I love the botanical gardens. There are so many plants to look at. On cold winter days I like to go into the Victorian style hothouse to warm up and enjoy some greenery. The smaller greenhouses are only open on certain days, but it's a nice surprise when they are.
  • A wonderful and peaceful place in the center of Copenhagen. Well-planned space, many interesting and rare plants. It is worth taking a walk and sitting in peace and quiet.
