#7 of 23 in Parks in Copenhagen
Nature / Park
Stroll, run, swim, skate, rent a kayak, or go diving at Amager Strandpark. An artificial island was added to the original beach in 2005, creating a lagoon with shallow-water areas suitable for children. Cross one of the three narrow bridges to get to the 2 km (1.24 mi) long island. The northern section of the island features sandy beaches and sand dunes. The southern section offers recreation grounds, playing fields, a picnic site, and a promenade. Amenities include a small marina and parking facilities. • We have spent an afternoon here and were impressed! The ride from the city there was relatively short. Despite great weather, the beach was nearly empty, dreamy. Windy but clean :) Very much recommended!

  • Great place for resting heart rate! Organized, clean, plenty of room! You can swim, paddle, learn to scuba dive, or just look at the sea and sail boats.

  • unusual for a Mediterranean context, but a green and beautiful and perfect for sports. Worth a visit. In the background the wind turbines that power cleanly much of electricity and city incinerator just as sustainable!!

  • Very nice and quite a big beach. Had good time during Skt Hans celebration on 23rd june 2017. Beach is super clean and water is crystal clear. Remember to carry a polarized sun glass to see through water. Its simply awesome. You will feel it, mark my words.
  • Lovely sandy beach against the backdrop of the mighty Øresund bridge. There are lifeguards on duty and every few hundred meters there are bathrooms and kiosks. There is even a mobile library if you need some reading material or entertainment for your kids.
  • Really well kept public beach. Clean water + inspiring landscape. A place to calm your mind.
  • This place is definitely a must visit if you have long layover at Copenhagen. The beach is very well maintained and if you are lucky you can have an awesome evening with your friends.
  • A more than decent sandy beach with surprisingly clean water, as for a city beach. There's plenty of space to park your bike, a couple of ice cream and drink stalls and well taken care public bathrooms.

Where to stay in Copenhagen

Most of the hotels in Copenhagen are located in the central Vesterbro or hip Indre By areas, though there are many more adventurous (and somewhat more affordable) places to stay during your vacation. As in the rest of Denmark, accommodations in Copenhagen are quite expensive. If you're traveling on a tight budget, consider camping along the Mølleå River or staying in one of the city's many backpacker hostels. If you prefer an inexpensive hotel, explore options in the Helgolandsgade and Colbjørnsensgade neighborhoods. For a taste of Denmark's art scene, head to the up-and-coming Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn areas. Travelers who like to stay outside of the main tourist areas should set their sights on one of the city's suburbs, like the northern section where you can stay at a beachfront hotel or on a houseboat.
