Amager Strandpark, Copenhagen

(4.6/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Stroll, run, swim, skate, rent a kayak, or go diving at Amager Strandpark. An artificial island was added to the original beach in 2005, creating a lagoon with shallow-water areas suitable for children. Cross one of the three narrow bridges to get to the 2 km (1.24 mi) long island. The northern section of the island features sandy beaches and sand dunes. The southern section offers recreation grounds, playing fields, a picnic site, and a promenade. Amenities include a small marina and parking facilities. • Amager Beach park is a gem on the island of Amager. In summer it is often crammed, but always in a good mood. Beach Park is definitely worth a visit even if it is not high summer, it is really nice to walk along the water at all sites per year, and especially beautiful in winter. There is a possibility of ice-cream, coffee and pancakes on the way around the small artificial island.

  • This is the place to be on a hot summer day. Long beach, crystal clear water and activities. It's all there!  more »
  • This beach is good with the Metro M2 and a walk about 10 minutes. Expect small dunes and quite coarse sandy beach there. Is suitable for jogging or a walk when the weather is good, if you want to escape the hustle and bustle in Copenhagen times... Slightly disturbing, I found the small wind farm and the commercial area.

  • This is the perfect place for a sunday walk. There also are bike roads on the island.
  • This beach is wonderful. Granted it's a man-made, but it's great to spend time here whether you want to walk, swim, sunbath, run, play volleyball, play golf, in summer, winter whatever. There are now organised street parties with street food and all in the summer, so there is always something going on here.
  • Wonderful beach with many facilities. There are toilets and changing rooms. There are great conditions for rollerblading and skating along the beach. There is an outdoor gym and parkour facility. And various different shops. All of these things might sound a little too much but I think they managed to blend it all quite nicely without neglecting 'nature'. The bathing conditions are also really great.
  • Amazing landscape! Great for taking a walk
  • Great beach park with something to do for everyone. Even if it's a windy day, one can hide in the sand dunes and enjoy the elusive Danish sun. Beach is very clean and has all the facilities needed like toilets and changing rooms.
