Where to stay in Copenhagen

Most of the hotels in Copenhagen are located in the central Vesterbro or hip Indre By areas, though there are many more adventurous (and somewhat more affordable) places to stay during your vacation. As in the rest of Denmark, accommodations in Copenhagen are quite expensive. If you're traveling on a tight budget, consider camping along the Mølleå River or staying in one of the city's many backpacker hostels. If you prefer an inexpensive hotel, explore options in the Helgolandsgade and Colbjørnsensgade neighborhoods. For a taste of Denmark's art scene, head to the up-and-coming Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn areas. Travelers who like to stay outside of the main tourist areas should set their sights on one of the city's suburbs, like the northern section where you can stay at a beachfront hotel or on a houseboat.

  • This is a nice place to have lunch! Eat the hot food only. It's a welcome rest above the city. If your touring you can take a much needed break. The store is wonderful and very similar to American Nor...  more »

  • Upscale shopping mall. Items more expensive than can found elsewhere. Besides the common branded items, the bottom food level is worth a visitor and the grocery store does have quite a unique selection of delicacies not found anywhere else in Copenhagen.
  • Quite a fancy shopping mall. Liked the building it's housed in, how well they preserved it. Mainly high end and products of various brands, but nothing too Danish or traditional that I would buy back as souvenirs. But I found something interesting at the lower floor supermarket. The pork belly skin! Such a yummy snack food but so bad for the heart!
  • Nice selection in some categories like clothes and beauty. Poor selection in others like sports and electronics. Fine services like Personal Shopper.
  • Really nice department store with everything. The lunch at the top is pretty good and there is a little area for small children where you can eat and play. Perfect for a rainy shopping day.
  • The most well known shopping centre in Denmark, though the selection is kinda mediocre and mainstream, which for some is fine. I find it kind of boring.
