Tivoli Friheden, Aarhus

4.0
#3 of 6 in Theme Parks in East Jutland
The haunted house, illusion factory, and 5-D cinema are just a few of the 40 attractions at one of Denmark's oldest amusement parks, Tivoli Friheden. There are many rides to choose from that vary in intensity. Try the swings for elevated views of the surrounding park, play a round of mini golf on the 12-hole course, or brave the rough seas on the imitation pirate ship. Throughout the park you'll find live entertainment such as Pjerrot the magician and the park's two mascots, Mrs. Frog and Mr. Rabbit. Try some of the traditional Danish dishes at the on-site restaurant, or use the barbecue in the picnic area. • This Park has lots of attractions to try. Bring your family and have some fun. Best time to go is for christmas, halloween or summer. In summertime they have "Fed Fredag", with live music every friday...  more »
  • Quite a bit nice old park in summer. Especially when the weather is good, the sun is shining. It is very expensive if you want to try the amusements or have dinner etc.  more »
  • Was here for the Christmas market with friends. Incredibly nice decorated garden. Many offers from stalls on food and drink. Restaurants open. Most rides equally. We agreed to the idea of Christmas opening was successful.

  • The park isn't too big, and the rides cost tickets per ride, but you can buy a wristband that allows infinite trips on rides for a reasonable price. The park itself is well-decked with flowers, sculptures, and sits nicely in the forest of Marselisborg just on the southern end of the city outskirts. The park has rides for all ages, but sadly doesn't have any long or tall coasters due to the location's relatively small size.
  • I went in December when the park was filled to the brim with Christmas lights, decorations and snow. Every nook of it was a beautiful sight, especially all the tiny shacks selling all sorts of homemade sweets and snacks. On the negative though, everywhere we went, we saw closed joy rides and attractions, and you pay extra for access to them on top of the entry ticket. The few open ones, like the two 3d cinemas, are simply not keeping up with todays standards and technology.
  • Tivoli Friheden is a great place. It is a amusement park with lots of fun activites. During December there is a Christmas theme through the whole park and it is really beautiful. Unfortunately some of the activites are not available in the winter, but there it always something fun to do.
  • We had a really great time! It's a very "hyggeligt" park, and the size is perfect for small children. Short waiting times for rides, and plenty of tasty snacks make for a lovely day and lots fun.
  • This is a very cosy fairground, with a long history and old traditions. It's a nice mix of down to earth playground for both young kids and older kids-by-heart. Almost everything costs money, so I highly recommend to buy a tour-band (Currently it costs less than five times the cheapest ride.) even if you are just there with the kids - this month they even allow you to use it on two separate days for the same price. The restaurant we tried offered an eat what you can buffet, featuring a high number of delicious roasts and other meats, combined with a selection of potatoes and a great salad bar to choose from. Our kids loved it! I'll be back again this month for sure!
