  • Marselisborg Palace is located at the Memorial Park. A stunningly beautiful park surrounded by forests and views of the water. The Park was inaugurated in 1925 and is on a 15 ha. It is used by young and old for relaxation and recreation, and is really a great spot close to the city. But we should all remember that it is also a memorial park. In 1934 the monument was inaugurated, it is a circular monument dug into the ground and consists of Euville limestone in France. It is a memento of 4140 fallen Danish, most South jutlanders on the German side in World War 1 1914-1918, forced to leave even though they were Danish mind. There is in the circular monument 4 reliefs, udmarch, fight, peace and home march. In addition, all 4140 man mentioned by name, birthplace, birth date, death date and place. This monument preserves the memories and is hopefully helps to prevent wars. A worthy monument in the most stunning surroundings. Definitely a must to visit the Marselisborg memorial park.

  • It's a stunning park full of wonderful flowers and trees. A great place to relax! It's right next to the Royal residence too, which I think is pretty great!  more »

  • Very nice place to in the summer, provided it's not raining. Very spacious and good play area for the kids. Close to the sea ( though the water is cold most of the time). Have barbecue facilities and some training facilities.
  • One of my favorite parks in the world. Simply a beautiful large park overlooking the sea with the backdrop of the Queen's Summer house. This is a great place for a picnic, having a glass of wine, or just taking a walk. There is a wonderful WWI monument in the center of the park honoring fallen Danish soldiers. This park also has a "hidden" garden to the left side of it (if your back is to the sea).
  • Wonderful area with a beautiful memorial to the fallen Danes of ww1
  • beautiful park close to the Royal summer palace. Great for a walk
  • Still a great park but the cutting back of trees and bushes is a shame.

Where to stay in Aarhus

For a price, you can stay close to the main sights of this charming city at one of the many hotels located in Aarhus' historical old town. While it may feel like a romantic small town with its cobbled streets, accommodations here, especially centrally located options or hotels along the marina, are just as expensive as in many other Scandinavian cities. Moderately priced hotels and hostels are limited, so if you are traveling on a budget, book early at a spot outside the city center. For nature lovers passing through the city, there are also campgrounds located near Aarhus in the beautiful surrounding forests.
