  • Dokk1 is the perfect gathering place for the whole family, study groups and pairs. Immersion in books, play in the children's area and time for coffee in the Café. In addition, dokk1 offers mouthwatering places, which clearly can be recommended in the beautiful surroundings.

  • A typical example of the "bunker architecture", which is raging in the present, Raw concrete. quirky angles and sloping surfaces-then we're probably smart. Expensive to produce, a lot of superfluous spaces to be heated, cleaned and maintained. And the worst: A dominant insult to the surrounding, old building in a totally different style.

  • Not many cultural experiences call on so many so long as Dokk1. Repeatedly, we take either parts or the whole family there. Outside, it is the big toys, that draws in kids. The view over the port of Aarhus is excellent and the ' leben ' you can follow from there is pure joy. Within welcomes a generally friendly atmosphere with sumptuous materials and many good opportunities for a ' cozy corner ' with views of the harbor lures. Only downside is the Café. It is actually ok, if it's only adult audience. But since the site is targeted at families, it is still not realistic to mokke a non-gluten, Farro, organic sandwich with spinach leaves and goat cheese in a 5-year-old. The quality of the food is actually ok, but the Committee for children is non-existent, unless they shall live by chocolate buns or sandwich with ' adult stuff ' in. I love Dokk1-it is one of the best that has happened to Aarhus the past 20 years. Well Yes, and in fact seemed quite large too.

  • I visited the library for the architecture. Huge open spaces designed thinking about socializing, spending quality family time among books. There where a lot of families with babies but still quiet tho. I believe it's a thing to see in Aarhus. You will enjoy the sights.
  • The place is just a big modern open space building. However it is simple and functional and they have many different facilities for kids, students and generally just every citizen. They also have a lot of books...
  • This place is beautiful. Nonetheless, there are a few points that a I share with many reviewers of this place: 1) The collection of books in other languages that are not Danish is very poor. 2) This is a library, not a children's playground. Although they have designated areas to play, sadly, the library is mostly used as a park for them, since they yell and run around everywhere without their parents nor the library's staff supervision. This makes it really tough for the people who actually come here to read, work, or study.
  • Absolutely amazing place. Good for studying and working with your laptop, also good for meetings and group gatherings. Very inspiring atmosphere, the are books. In different languages of you don't speak Danish and various activities for visitors every day
  • Beautiful architecture. Take a walk around the house outside. Great view everywhere. Take a walk around the library in several levels. Eat a chilli con carne in the cafe and take the food with you to the outside. You can spend a long time in this beautiful house, which is a great place for families with children.

Where to stay in Aarhus

For a price, you can stay close to the main sights of this charming city at one of the many hotels located in Aarhus' historical old town. While it may feel like a romantic small town with its cobbled streets, accommodations here, especially centrally located options or hotels along the marina, are just as expensive as in many other Scandinavian cities. Moderately priced hotels and hostels are limited, so if you are traveling on a budget, book early at a spot outside the city center. For nature lovers passing through the city, there are also campgrounds located near Aarhus in the beautiful surrounding forests.
