Hrad Trosky, Semily
(4.5/5 based on 50 reviews on the web)

Založení hradu spadá do pozdního středověku - přibližně mezi roky 1380 až 1390, kdy majitel zdejšího panství Čeněk z Vartemberka využil přirozené obranné vlastnosti čedičových skal.

------------------------------------------------

Trosky Castle is the national historic landmark, situated between the towns Jičín and Turnov in the heart of protected landscape area called Czech Paradise. The ground of the castle are two unique rocky peaks of volcanic origin.

Foundation of the castle goes back to late Middle Age - approximately between the years 1380 and 1390. The owner of local manor Čeněk z Vartenberka took an advantage of simple defensive character of basaltic rocks. He built the inner castle with residential palaces on the ridge between both peaks and built also two defensive and residential towers on their tops. Lower peak called for its wide look "Baba" (Beldam) is 70 meters high and lies 504 meters above sea level. Higher and thinner peak "Panna" (Virgin) is 80 meters high and lies 514 meters above sea level.

The castle has had several owners since its foundation, who left Trosky in the beginning of the 16th century once for all. The aristocracy resettled into more comfortable castles, chateaus and mansions and Trosky became a settlement of officials and bureaucracy. Towards the end of Thirty Years War (1618-1648) the castle was plundered by Swedish and since that time the castle has dilapidated until just the ruins left here. Since the beginning of the 18th century the castle has been used as a material source.

First renewals and restorations were done by the time of romanticism, then by the Union of Czech Tourists in the 30s. More extensive restoring works were done in recent decades.

  • The ruins are amazing and the staff is ohromujici. But according to my predrazene enough. Parking lot 60, vtup 70, pes 20. What went wrong was the nam cell facilities a little clumsy neochotny, protivny and nekomunikativni reseller vstupneho. The neodpovedel query, no vse mame pry napsane, etc. Skoda nerudneho duchodce this. I guess it's there in the Sunday got tired, but mel would be aware, the man has a masterpiece and for how much sales girl once more thanks and behave.

  • Out of the ruins is a really wonderful view of the surroundings and especially the Bohemian Paradise. too bad that is not accessible to the highest Tower, but it would probably be due to the location was not possible. Admission is a little higher (70.0-adult) for a tour without comment, but the view you will get and you will not regret the money.

  • At the ruins we went cycling from Turnov. A beautiful ride on a bike. The amazing landscape of the Bohemian Paradise. The ruins I drove really as a wreck. The three kilometre climb can take. You have to pay the entrance fee 70 CZK per person but worth it for the view. The toilets here are but only the toi toi but I was safe. Food classic-klobasa pikador at affordable prices.

  • A kind of mystical place with an amazing view...
  • Really neat ruins of an old castle, perfect to visit when you're in town visiting Cesky Raj.
  • Great place for family trip, beautiful view.
  • Typical silhouette visible from afar, it's one of the must-see places in the Bohemian Paradise. Beautiful views from the access path.
  • Krásné vyhlídky na údolí Českého ráje, hezká příroda, celkově příjemné místo. Možnost občerstvení, ovšem možná trochu dražší vstup.
