Wallenstein Palace, Prague

4.6
Take a short breather from your tour of the city with a visit to Wallenstein Palace, a sprawling Baroque park on the left bank of the Vltava River. The palace, constructed in the early decades of the 17th century, now houses the country's senate and offers only limited access to visitors. The garden is open to the public daily, so you can stroll along its neat pathways or feed the ducks at its picturesque pond. Be sure to visit the "sala terrena," a richly decorated garden pavilion overlooking a fountain and a row of bronze statues representing figures from Greek mythology. • To tell the story of the Duke of Wallenstein visits more meaningful place. There is no admission, visit seems to be a good choice.

  • These gardens were one of my favorite stops in Prague. I came right when they opened at 7:30 am and had the hold place to myself -- truly magical. The place is so unique in terms of European gardens. ...  more »
  • We were recommended to come here for some peace and quiet by our tour leader before leaving Prague as we had been going nonstop all day. It was a welcome place and beautifully set out. Beautiful garde...  more »

  • Unfortunately the Parliament building was closed. However the gardens are well worth a visit. Elegant. And with white peacocks.
  • Really interesting and beautiful park with a fountain with fish and peacocks. The statues by Adriaen de Vries was looted by the Swedish Army a long time ago. Therefore you can find copies of these statues around the park.
  • The garden outside the palace is home to two beautiful peacocks, one of which is white in color. Very beautiful.
  • Free entry to the check Senate building and gardens. An amazing historic building with very nice attendants. Even if we didn't share a language we had a good conversation about the stolen statues in the garden.
  • Really beautiful. I've never thought that Prague can bee so beautiful.

Where to stay in Prague

As one of Europe’s main tourist destinations, Prague offers a selection of accommodations to match its popularity, from luxury hotels to very affordable hostels. For an authentic Prague experience, stay at one of the guesthouses or boutique hotels housed inside the city's historical buildings. You'll find many lodgings concentrated around the most popular sightseeing areas, such as the Old Town, the Lesser Town, and Prague Castle, but there are also a good number of them in other neighborhoods. The best way to make Prague feel like home is to rent a fully furnished apartment.
