Wallenstein Garden, Prague

4.6
#3 of 108 in Parks in Czech Republic
Garden Nature / Park
Take a short breather from your tour of the city with a visit to Wallenstein Garden, a sprawling Baroque park on the left bank of the Vltava River. The palace, constructed in the early decades of the 17th century, now houses the country's senate and offers only limited access to visitors. The garden is open to the public daily, so you can stroll along its neat pathways or feed the ducks at its picturesque pond. Be sure to visit the "sala terrena," a richly decorated garden pavilion overlooking a fountain and a row of bronze statues representing figures from Greek mythology. Our Prague trip generator makes visiting Wallenstein Garden and other Prague attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Where to stay in Prague

As one of Europe’s main tourist destinations, Prague offers a selection of accommodations to match its popularity, from luxury hotels to very affordable hostels. For an authentic Prague experience, stay at one of the guesthouses or boutique hotels housed inside the city's historical buildings. You'll find many lodgings concentrated around the most popular sightseeing areas, such as the Old Town, the Lesser Town, and Prague Castle, but there are also a good number of them in other neighborhoods. The best way to make Prague feel like home is to rent a fully furnished apartment.

  • Agree with others - beautiful, peaceful place you can easily miss. Although with a tour guide who gave interesting insights and history, the gardens are peaceful just for the casual stroll. In an arch...  more »

  • This is a wonderful garden. It used to be free, & when it was free there was a nice atmosphere (not too crowded but not too empty). It was lovely to walk through. Now you have to pay Kč 100 to go in, & they have closed all the entrances except for the one through the Metro station. Now, hardly anyone goes in. It is desolate & sad.
  • Really nice place to chill, hidden from traffic behind high walls, you will easily pass it if you do't know what's there. Very well maintained, a lot of benches to sit in the shadow and relax after walking in Old city. They have peacocks too ;)
  • A very beautiful place. Here you can meet live peacocks. One of which is white.
  • Beautiful gardens with peacocks and fish pond. The grotto wasn't my favorite thing, but the rest was very nice.
  • Free-range white peacocks, giant koi in the pristine fountain, a hedge maze/path, and a fascinatingly strange rock wall with animals and people hidden in all the bumps and grooves - oh a it wraps around a beautiful owlery. Kind of creepy but very cool!
