Historic Site Specialty Museum
Marking the entry into Prague's historical old town, The Powder Tower is one of the original city gates. Constructed in 1475 and intended for ceremonial rather than defensive purposes, the tower played a major role during the coronation parades of kings of Bohemia. Royalty continued to pass through this gate on their way to coronation ceremonies until the 17th century, when the tower became a major gunpowder depository (hence the name). Restored in the middle of the 19th century by architect Josef Mocker, the tower bears statues of several Bohemian kings and symbols of territories that they controlled. For sweeping views over the old town, visit the tower's 44 m (144 ft) high gallery. Where to stay in Prague

As one of Europe’s main tourist destinations, Prague offers a selection of accommodations to match its popularity, from luxury hotels to very affordable hostels. For an authentic Prague experience, stay at one of the guesthouses or boutique hotels housed inside the city's historical buildings. You'll find many lodgings concentrated around the most popular sightseeing areas, such as the Old Town, the Lesser Town, and Prague Castle, but there are also a good number of them in other neighborhoods. The best way to make Prague feel like home is to rent a fully furnished apartment.

  • Very nice view of the city in a quite accessible place. Authentic architecture and very interesting. It's a quick visit (20 min or less) but totally worth it. Mainly if you are just nearby in between some other touristic spots.
  • Looks very pretty. It would certainly be cool to go up. I need to warn you though, the cashier tried to scam me. He said my student ID was somehow invalid (It's not. Every other place has accepted it in Europe, including the rest of Prague) and tried to get me to pay more. No other place has tried to steal money from me, so this was surprising. I think it's worth going to, but if they try to scam you, don't be afraid to just leave. There are many towers in Prague with honest cashiers.
  • Great fun for a family day out while in Prague. It can be busy so get there early, and if possible, get the tram up.
  • Ok worth going having a look. See for yourself. Let people see what u think.
