St. Giles Church, Prague

4.7
Take in the gold details and Romanesque columns of St. Giles Church, designed in the 1300s and displaying a combination of Baroque and Gothic architecture. Several famous religious figures have preached here since its construction and the renowned artist who painted the ceilings of the church is buried here. Visit the site and consider attending one of its well-known organ recitals. In addition to the excellent acoustics, the concerts provide a good opportunity to gain insight about the church, as the pastor often speaks about its historical and architectural significance before a performance. In a city known for its classical concerts, this site offers you a somewhat more affordable and personal musical experience. Note that the unheated church can get quite cold inside, particularly during winter months, so dress warmly. • If you go through the Husova bike (like I did), this church not on. But the signs outside invited out for a concert. So anyway but stopped to look. The Church was much nicer than the outside did. in the evening, the concert attended and that was well above expectations. The Church has good acoustics and that made the sounds of the music even more beautiful. The Church also has a pretty organ (it was said the largest of Prague) I have that night very enjoyed and recommend anyone who is visiting Prague to this church not skip!!

  • Beautiful Catholic Church in the heart of the city. Unfortunately it's a bit hidden and easy to miss, as the front facade is right next to a building and not an open space. Moreover, the audio during mass is terrible, very difficult to catch the words of the priest or the readers.
  • Great interaction with the church. They had games the kids could play in spotting different objects in the church.
  • Magnificent working community church in the centre of Prague
  • spectacular church in nice neighbourhood, interesting art inside, Prague's English speaking Catholic parish
  • Amazing Dedication of Fr William

Where to stay in Prague

As one of Europe’s main tourist destinations, Prague offers a selection of accommodations to match its popularity, from luxury hotels to very affordable hostels. For an authentic Prague experience, stay at one of the guesthouses or boutique hotels housed inside the city's historical buildings. You'll find many lodgings concentrated around the most popular sightseeing areas, such as the Old Town, the Lesser Town, and Prague Castle, but there are also a good number of them in other neighborhoods. The best way to make Prague feel like home is to rent a fully furnished apartment.
