Prague Zoo occupies a wooded area on the right bank of the Vltava River. Home to nearly 5,000 animals from almost 700 different species, the park offers you a chance to come face-to-face with giraffes, gorillas, polar bears, tigers, and red pandas. Although the park shelters over 130 species listed as critically endangered, its most important possession may be a herd of rare Przewalski’s horses, native to the steppes of central Asia. Stop by to see the descendants of the last Przewalski's horse caught in the wild, and discover other highlights of this animal sanctuary by taking a guided ride on the zoo's miniature cable car. Prague Zoo reviews
We really loved reliving our childhood by visiting this amazing place. The animals were really well cared for which is important "Peter Drake" teacher and playwright Hexham Northumberland more »
Reasonably priced with a good selection of animals to see, including lions, tigers, giraffes and gorillas, the animals did seem to be well looked after with room to roam. This zoo is also situated... more »
Really impressive zoo. Huge variety of animals, nice and close to see. Bit of a kids play area including water in the middle as well as a chair lift, to over see the place, and in hindsight useful to.... more »
Coming from Bosnia and deciding to visit the zoo last minute was one of the best decisions I ever made. The zoo is massive, there are many paths and many places to see. Seeing so many new animals is a pleasure. If you have extra time i highly suggest you visit this place, but be careful you will need really long time to visit everything. We spent couple of hours there and still didn't manage to see everything. There are also a lot of places you can eat, which gives you an ability to be there all day long. If you have time, visit the zoo you won't regret it.
The best zoo I have ever been. It's my first time to see an actual fruit bat flying around me, very exciting! In this zoo, all animals are raised in appropriate nature environment which let them show off their survival capability. Goat in a huge cliff, Elephant and Giraffe in a 5 times ball park size prairie. Very clean, very close to city side. I'll suggest they should improve their gift shop, probably more diverse merchandises.
I went with my wife and 3+2 y.o kids. We loved it! And the kids webt crazy about the animals! It was really fulfilling to walk along the zoo which is on top of the hell, going all the way down, the nature plays a great role in making the whole experience worth. The one thing I’d really point out is that it is better if you guys visit the zoo after the winter, as during the winter the animals are kept inside. The elephants and giraffes are better seen outside for me!
This is a great zoo with big and open enclosures. It has a large range of animals such as polar bears, tigers, gorillas as well as a ton of birds. I’ve visited this Zoo twice - once in the summer and once in the winter. Safe to say the cold weather didn’t affect the number of animals we could see as both on visits the majority of the animals were visible. You can easily spend 3-4 hours here and possibly longer if you’re planning on stopping at one of the many cafes or for lunch
The Zoo is always a lovely place to visit, and the staff are accommodating to the less linguistically inclined English speakers (sorry for butchering your language people of Prague). You can spend a whole day observing the beautiful animals in the zoo, who have done a great job of making the habitats stimulating and appealing. As an animal lover, zoos can sometimes pose a dilemma. You get the chance to see things you never would in day to day life, but at the cost of a cage. Prague Zoo does everything to ease your mind, with some animals history's even being exhibited so you can see how they arrived at the Zoo, so you know it's as ethical as possible. If you love wildlife and are looking for something to do in Prague, I would highly recommend it. If a beautiful Siberian tiger can't convince you, I don't know what will.
