Petrin Hill, Prague

(4.2/5 based on 4,600+ reviews on the web)
On a clear day, Petrin Hill offers sweeping views of Prague and beyond. Rising some 130 m (420 ft) above the left bank of the Vltava River, the hill is one of the city's most popular recreational areas for both visitors and natives. The hill's dominant feature is a 62 m (200 ft) high lookout tower, inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Although you can scramble up the hill on foot, the easiest way to access the top is by a century-old funicular railway. Once there, you can climb the lookout tower's 299 steps for a small fee, or picnic in the park for free. • A good place. Raised with his wife on the hill with the help of fonikuljora, for it requires a ticket as for public transport if you don't have it, not far from the landing there is a stall where they are sold. On the Hill are old buildings and Petřín lookout tower. I liked the descent (descended on foot) with zigzag paths and excellent views over Prague. You can sit on the bench and just enjoy the view. Of course in Prague many places that deserve more attention in my opinion, but if you are not limited in time recommend to visit this place.

  • We've got to climb the Tower walk (by choice!) and despite the wind and cold, the effort is well worth the result: the view from the top is gorgeous! One tip, try to be there when it opens, otherwise you will find it very crowded!

  • Maybe February not the best time to climb the tower! Walked from the base of the hill, not for the unfit ! Near the top the pathways were covered with frozen snow/ice making the last 200 metres very h...  more »
