Old Town Bridge Tower, Prague

4.7
Walk the "royal way" under the triumphal arch of Old Town Bridge Tower, just like ancient Bohemian kings did on their way to coronation. Schwabian architect Peter Parler designed the tower as part of city's fortifications in the 14th century. Climb 138 stairs to an observation room to look out over the old town. Above the arch, on the coats of arms, you'll notice a black eagle on a golden background and a silver two-tailed lion on a red background. The three statues above the coats of arms represent two Bohemian kings, Charles IV and Wenceslas IV, and the patron saint of Bohemia, St. Vitus. • The bridge is more emblematic of Prague. It has fantastic views and there are many people with jobs or who play instruments. Very funny.

  • This tower is located at the Stare Mesto side of Charles Bridge. The climb to the top is not very hard, you pay entrance fee sometime after you have started climbing. The tower is not very busy, so it...  more »
  • This is naturally a compulsory passage point. A bridge and Tower rich in history and beauty, but watch out for some of the street performers: this site is a good tourist trap ... Attention to pickpockets!

  • One of the best experiences in Prague. Climbing the tower and walking literally on its roof feels like travelling back in time and meeting king Charles 4th himself. Very authentic place. The walls of the tower are breathing history. Amazing view on the bridge and the night city aglow with hundreds of lights. Come here, I recommend ❤
  • Had an awesome view of the surrounding and was a nice experience . All of this for a small fee. The museum was a bit informative but slightly lacking. Great place to go to for pictures of the Bridge and Prague and also to be free of the busy crowd below .
  • Worth the 100 Kč you have to pay to enter the top for the view. Tickets are for sale probably halfway up the tower. The staircase is narrow but manageable. The space up is another story...you can fit probably 10 to 15 people the most there and the views of the super crowded Charles Bridge are fantastic!! 😊
  • Entrance tickets 10 CZK and 70 for students. In the tower there is a museum and on top there is an excellent view. An ideal place for photography. Disadvantages - overflowing with tourists
  • The architecture alone is stunning. When you add the location and the alleys that lead to and from this spot you truly have a picturesque spot no matter the time of day/night
