Old Town Bridge Tower, Prague

(750+ reviews on the web)
Architectural Building
Walk the "royal way" under the triumphal arch of Old Town Bridge Tower, just like ancient Bohemian kings did on their way to coronation. Schwabian architect Peter Parler designed the tower as part of city's fortifications in the 14th century. Climb 138 stairs to an observation room to look out over the old town. Above the arch, on the coats of arms, you'll notice a black eagle on a golden background and a silver two-tailed lion on a red background. The three statues above the coats of arms represent two Bohemian kings, Charles IV and Wenceslas IV, and the patron saint of Bohemia, St. Vitus. • Worth the climb up to get a great view of the city. We went after dark which made the views more spectacular. Quiet and worth it!  more »
  • If visiting Charles Bridge it is well worth the climb up the tower. Great views and a great place to watch the hustle and bustle from.  more »
  • This tower is one of the headwaters of the Charles Bridge, incredible bridge, the most beautiful of the city. Important: look closely at the details carved into the tower. Symbols, characters, everything brings us the history and the mystique that the Czechs are history and their times.
