Mucha Museum, Prague

Categories: Art Museums, Museums
Inspirock Rating:
3.2/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web
Packed with paintings, posters, and decorative panels, Mucha Museum offers a look at the creative universe of one of the biggest names in the Art Nouveau movement. The relatively small museum holds a large collection of Alfons Mucha's finest works, as well as a selection of his personal photographs. Mucha enthralled the art world of the early 20th century with his paintings of Slavic maidens adorned with garlands and linden boughs. Although the museum displays many of these images, its prized possession remains an original 1894 poster of actress Sarah Bernhardt, which elevated Mucha to international stardom. The on-site shop offers gifts with various Mucha motifs. A visit to Mucha Museum represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Prague holiday planner to plot your vacation.

  • This museum is too often forgotten the visits of this beautiful city of Prague, as it is slightly out of the way. But this is a visit that is necessary if we like the Belle Epoque drawings and posters of this wonderful artist. Everything reminds images that we had forgotten and that re-emerging from the past when they are exposed to the walls of this House - Museum. Not to be missed.

  • הגלריה מכילה ציורים ופוסטרים מפורסמים, וכן מידע על מהלך חייו של הצייר והאומן אלפונס מוכה. הביקור אורך כשעה ודורש תשלום. קיימת הנחה ב-prague card.
  • This is a very small museum with classic examples of his art. There do not seem to have rotating exhibits. There is an informative documentary film which is worth seeing. The gift shop is quite nice.
  • Mucha is one of my favourite painters but this museum has so horrible lighting that it takes away all the enjoyment of looking at the pieces. Spotlights are directed straight towards the paintings causing shadow edges on them and really bright reflections. And there's also natural light that makes things even worse. Really bad job with the lighting.
  • Great to see so many works of Mucha and lot's more. Fair entry price and little bit old fashioned approach but for us still very much worthwile....
  • Nice little museum of a great artist, though a little overpriced. More pieces in the collection would be good.
  • Not a bad visit with the student discount. Seeing prints by Mucha was incredible, but the museum was a little disjointed and smaller than expected.
  • Great to see some of his original work up close, but for the price I expected there to be a lot more on display. The gallery is actually quite small.
