  • From an architectural standpoint, Malostranské square, of course, is of interest for tourists. Here you will find several beautiful palaces, in particular, the Liechtenstein dynasty, Smirzhickogo, one of the leaders of the uprising of the estates of first half of the 17th century, as well as Shternbergskij and Gremlingofskij palaces. They were built in a style characteristic for Mediterranean Palazzo. So before this area was called the Italian, and the name ' Malostranské náměstí "appeared only in the second half of the 19th century as a kind of" snap "to the historical and the modern centre of one of the most picturesque districts of Prague Mala Strana. However, this is not the only place in Prague, in a city where every corner, it's a piece of history. The same can be said about "plague column"-nearly every more or less major city in Europe, particularly in Central and Eastern, have such a sad monument to the past. In my opinion, the lesser town square, there are two points of interest that are essential and worth it to visit. First of all, a very beautiful church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, known among locals as the Church of St. Mikuláš. It is unique and its architecture in the Baroque style, and the internal decoration (see fig. 36.37, 38, 39, 40 and 41, but the Temple still write separately). And, of course, very peculiar monument executed 27 ringleaders of the uprising of the estates (though they were executed 21 June 1621 year on the old town square-see fig. 50). It is made in the form of 27 cast metal sculptures-pillars partially framing approach to the Liechtenstein Palace. It is no coincidence, in fact, it was Karl von Liechtenstein, the Governor and the Vice Regent, vicar of the Emperor Ferdinand II in Bohemia suppressed the revolt of the Czech estates, and actively participated in arrests and Kaz.
