  • By the Church of St. Joseph (Kostel sv. Josefa) on Náměstí Republic it is possible to pass more than once, and even to pay much attention to this interesting sacral building-it is really "lost" its modest architectural forms against a backdrop of pink-beige community jedakoj the Prague Mecca of trade- "Palladium". But the history of the temple is rooted as much in mossy XVII century. It was then, in the year 1630, when tribes Fulani and Bambara revolted and laid siege to Mali, and Richard Delamejn has created a circular logarithmic ruler on this very spot from Kvestenberka, Gerhard (Gerhard z Questenberka) was a Czech nobleman, diplomat and Adviser to Albrecht Wallenstein-founded Capuchin monastery. To understand-what now appears before the eyes of the curious tourist Luda-new, dating from the mid-19th century. Before entering the courtyard of the temple we are greeted by sculptures in the niches of the Saints-Francis of Assisi and John of Nepomuk. Entering in a small courtyard on the left is our eyes appears dark from time to time, a sculptural composition: St. Jude Thaddeus with two Angels at the sides. Some sources mention that the authorship of the above-mentioned sculpture of Francis of Assisi, as well as two Many Angels belongs to the famous Czech Baroque sculptor and Carver Frantisek Prejssu (František Preiss). On the wall hang wooden panels, which in turn are variegated metallic plaques with gratitude. Overlooking Republic part of Náměstí temple complex is completely modest outside and performed in the ascetic style kapucinskom: without the towers, with a completely uninteresting round window on the façade, with a "naked" triangular pediment. Above the portal, as well as the left-to the right-colored inflatable images of Jesus, the Saints John the Baptist and Joseph. Because during my visit to the temple service was, I failed to capture the "nutrjanku" sacral.

  • A place to worship in the midst of busy area
  • Really nice place
  • Intense and often quite brutal modern buildings in the center of Prague has been a lot of irreversible damage. One of such unflattering "whirled progress" we find in the Republic square. Your might tell valuable archaeological remains of medieval courts and palaces, which destroyed for good construction of the Kotva department store in the days of "soudružského". If you look at this square to the East, you'll see the juxtaposition of the two sanctuaries-the left temple of consumerism, fat shopping centre Palladium, downtrodden building next to it the Church of St. Joseph. Visit the other worth-the simple but beautiful spaces. The initiative for the construction of this second Prague monastery came out r. 1630 from the Emperor Ferdinand II, who also contributed to the construction. Set it up in the years 1636-1653 the Builder Melichar Mayer. The foundation stone of the Church laid up 13.5.1636, the building was completed in 1642. Day 25.5.1653 then Archbishop of Prague Cardinal František Prince of Harrachu consecrated the finished Church and monastery. The Church is dedicated to Saint. Joseph, The Foster Parents Of The Lord. The year 1799 was established on the site of the monastery of barracks, in December 1832, the Church was returned to the administration of the Friars Minor Capuchin. In the year 2002 was in provisional premises when the Church established a community under the name of the religious House of St. Joseph. From 16.5.2002 House reverted to the old name of the Capuchin monastery Prague-new town. A simple rectangular building with a courtyard, undecorated in which are under the vaulted roofs of the Baroque sandstone statues of St. Jude Thaddaeus, and two angels, has a simple internal equipment. On the front wall is the fresco of St. Joseph, Guardian Of The Lord. Under it, over the entrance to the Church is located the armorial shield of Gerhard Questenberku. In the backyard under the vaulted entrance into its Baroque sandstone statues of St. Jude Thaddaeus, and two angels. In the Church are free from the organ, that was the year 1880 revised organ mechanic Schiffnerem. In the Interior of the Church are two altar paintings by Karel Škréta from the year 1653. The Prussian siege of Prague in 1757 they resemble two bricked up cannon balls in the vault of the Church. The simple rectangular unworked structure with a yard, in which the baroque sandstone statues of St. Jude Thaddeus and two angels, has a simple interior equipment. • Christian retreat on a busy square. From the cozy Court directly to the shrine, which is kapucínsky simple but equipped with a nice baroque furniture. The Church works very extensive confession, but the waiting time especially in liturgical exposed times are the shortest. The Church is quite busy.
