Katedrala Svateho Vita, Prague

Prague's finest example of Gothic architecture, Katedrala Svateho Vita is the resting place of many saints, kings, princes, and archbishops. Located within the city's World Heritage-listed castle complex, the cathedral notably contains 14th-century mosaics and stained glass by artist Alfons Mucha. The biggest and most ornate of the cathedral's many side chapels features medieval frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Christ, as well as a hidden staircase leading to a chamber housing priceless Bohemian crown jewels. You may not be able to see the real jewels, which are famously protected by seven locks, but you can reward yourself with panoramic views of the city from the cathedral's south tower. • Words are not, it is necessary to see. Grandiose construction, flight of human thought. Gratitude to the country that was able to preserve for us this splendor.

  • One of your stops while in the Prague Castle area! You can enter for free but to see the whole place a ticket is needed. Beautiful Cathedral, adds up to the magnificent area. Wiki; This cathedral is a prominent example of Gothic architecture and is the largest and most important church in the country. Located within Prague Castle and containing the tombs of many Bohemian kings and Holy Roman Emperors, the cathedral is under the ownership of the Czech government as part of the Prague Castle complex.
  • My husband and I we visit this Cathedral inside the castle, it's worth every penny of the money you spend on the entrance free. Make sure you have comfortable shoes because you will be walking a lot it's a lot to see, and take plenty of time so you can see it all you will need at least 5 hours. Just be aware that when you buy your ticket and they tell you that will includes everything it's not true you still have to pay to go to the tower and to go to the museum. If you want to enter to those it will be extra.
  • The cathedral itself is a beautiful building with some very interesting stonework outside and beautiful stained glass, chapels and tombs on the inside. But it's the crowds that lead to my 3 stars. It is very difficult to feel anything spiritual in the building as any attempts at quiet reflection are marred by people jostling to take photos or large tours. I also took the trouble to pay for a photo licence but on entering the building, everyone seemed to be taking photos on their phones with little evidence of a permit. The cheapest ticket also allows access to a few other places within the castle grounds, the Old Royal Palace, St George's Basilica and the Golden Lane which are worth a look but again possibly spoilt by the crowds.
  • Fascinating and amazing cathedral in the heart of Prague Castle. Beautiful gothic-style building with hundreds of interest details. There is a part of the cathedral that could be visited free of charge but if you paid for a ticket in the tourist centre before you can explore all the cathedral. Wonderful to see and feel this place. Highly recommended to visit.
  • Incredible Gothic details... I love it. Windows, colors, arches, shadows, towers... What a pleasure to see them. You can take awesome photos from down of cathedral. You can enter until 6 pm. And don't forget to get a bottle of water or a sandwich. It's really expensive up there.
