Infant Jesus of Prague, Prague
(4.4/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Inspirational and architecturally significant, Infant Jesus of Prague dates back to the 17th century and remains a fine example of Baroque architecture. Most visitors come to see a waxwork statue of infant Jesus, brought here from Spain in the 1620s. The church's main claim to fame, this figure is said to have protected the city from plague outbreaks and the destruction caused elsewhere by the Thirty Years' War. The focus of worldwide attention, the figure attracts a steady stream of religious travelers, arriving from as far away as Latin America. Don't miss the onsite museum, housing dozens of costumes used to dress up the statue for various religious occasions. • the Church is very simple on the outside and hides a treasure inside. The Bambino of Prague also has a museum with all his robes. The Church shop is the best there is, in terms of products and values. There is also a store across the street that if the Church is closed store, it's worth it. I'm speaking, of course, of original articles. Be sure to acquire the Holy oil to bless. In the Church, offer distance a value and get the prayers in several languages. Are precious. In addition, look at the image of our Lady of Aparecida donated the sanctuary from SP. To enter the Church, you don't pay anything. Visit very important, regardless of beliefs. Not to be missed: Yes.

  • The church looks very plain from the outside but the inside is very ornate and the altar with the Infant of Prague is beautiful. Also up the stairs on the right side of the altar you will find a small...  more »
  • Wonderful, but the thing that struck me most are the many and astonishing clothes of the child Jesus

  • I am not so much of a religious person. However if you are then you would probably rate this higher. The chruch is a small one but very well maintained. Once you enter the church on the right is the idol of infant Jesus. The decorations are very pretty and the church is very quiet and peaceful. They have an English mass at sometime in the afternoon. Am not sure of the timings but around 1pm. At the exit they also have a small gift shop with fairly priced items.
  • The legend says if a woman cannot get pregnant, she shall come in this church and she will be blessed by god.
  • You'll se a lot of people coming here just for taking a look to the Jesus statue. I did the same and saw nothing special. This looks more like a place to religious people than for tourists. As a tourist I was disappointed.
  • Very nice church. Worth a visit
  • This is a beautiful monastery from outside and inside. Make sure to come check it out!
