Hunger Wall, Prague

(4.2/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Originally intended to help defend Prague Castle and Mala Strana against attack, Hunger Wall stretches through Petrin Park from Strahov to Ujezd. It was built between 1360 and 1362 on the orders of Charles IV in a time of severe famine. Enjoy a stroll through the park along the length of the mighty wall, and admire the strength and history of this ancient fortification. The construction work helped provide a livelihood for the some of the city's poorest residents, hence the structure's unusual name. It underwent repairs in the 17th, 18th, and 20th centuries. • Going Petrin Hill, beautiful inter alia, pause to view this very significant installation. Represents the identity of the man which gradually dissolving. Is dedicated to the victims of communism. Take a moment to not only see this installation but also to think about what was communism. To see.

  • Horrendous sculpture. It commemorates historical situations. Live the story has not been easy for the Czech Republic. And understand their pain through the centuries, is difficult. But the monuments should be songs to life, coping and spirit left over this people. And this full of horror and pain.
